FELLOW PYNINS WORKSHOPS FOR FESTIVALS AND GROUPS

Offering workshops is one of Fellow Pynins’ favorite ways to connect with people and communities as they travel and tour.  The duo presents workshops in songwriting, harmony singing, and song collecting. Each workshop is delivered differently every time and caters to the needs of the group/context.

The interactive Songwriting Workshop focuses on exploring multiple approaches to the craft of a song, taking risks, writing from perspectives other than one’s own, how to build local song-writing communities, and playing with the courage needed to get out there and share them!  Often (time allowing) the workshop opens up for folks to share original songs and receive support and feedback from the band and other workshoppers.  The main intention is to build confidence and to encourage authenticity and originality.

The Harmony Singing Workshop is an all inclusive, hands-on singing experience.  Simple rounds and short songs from various vocal traditions will be taught for a deeper understanding of how vocal harmony can and is employed. The class empowers beginners to open their voice and learn simple two part block harmonies as well as engages experienced singers to learn advanced rhythms and multi-part harmonies. Expect a pop-up choir…

The Song Collecting Workshop focuses on the ways to locate old songs, find further details and versions of old songs, etiquette (both in the learning and sharing), and ideas on the reinterpretation of old songs for our current times.

Past Workshops: Wintergrass Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Singing Alive, Eau Claire Folk School, Plants enchant, California World Festival, and many public home workshops.
